CloudAMQP is a managed hosting platform built for developers who'd rather ship features than maintain queues. Launched in 2012, it started as hosted RabbitMQ and today also runs LavinMQ, our own broker built in Crystal. Together they power 35,000+ running instances for teams around the world, including Mozilla, Docker, DraftKings, and Viessmann. LavinMQ is fully AMQP 0-9-1 compatible and engineered for teams that need a fraction of the resource footprint of traditional brokers.
Developers shouldn't have to operate the infrastructure their applications depend on. They should write code.
CloudAMQP was started in 2012 by Carl Hörberg. He was a consultant trying to get RabbitMQ to play nicely with Heroku and AppHarbor, and kept running into the same problem: he wanted hosted queues that just worked, and they didn't exist. So he built them.
The bet was that cloud-based messaging would let developers focus on what they were actually building, instead of patching brokers, mirroring clusters, and reacting to outages at 3 a.m. Fourteen years later, that bet has held up well.
LavinMQ came later. We wanted control over our own broker, so we could fix problems and ship features without waiting on anyone else. Today it runs alongside RabbitMQ on the same CloudAMQP platform.
We're a remote-first team with colleagues across Sweden, the United States, New Zealand, Spain, Brazil, and several other countries. Everyone, including Carl, takes part in supporting customers. We've spent more than a decade running messaging infrastructure in production, and that experience shows up in the kind of help you get when you reach out.
We answer fast. We work directly with our customers' engineers. And we still treat support as part of the product, not a cost center.
Developers shouldn't have to set up or maintain servers to get the messaging they need. That's the short version. The longer version is that we want to keep building cloud-hosted services that quietly do the boring work, so the people using them can focus on the part that's actually theirs.
If that sounds like the kind of partner you're looking for, we'd love to hear from you.
